Cake box materials should comprehensively consider breathability, moisture resistance, load-bearing capacity, and environmental friendliness. Currently, mainstream materials include paper (white cardboard, corrugated paper), plastic (PET, PP), and composite materials. Paper boxes offer good breathability, suitable for short-term storage of fresh cream cakes (≤6 hours), but have weak moisture resistance and are prone to collapsing in humid environments. Plastic boxes provide strong sealing, delaying moisture loss from cakes, making them suitable for refrigerated cakes such as mousse and cheesecake (shelf life can be extended to 24 hours), but it's crucial to choose food-grade materials (such as PET) to avoid plasticizer migration. Composite materials (such as paper-plastic combinations) offer both moisture resistance and environmental friendliness, but are more expensive. In practice, the choice should be based on a comprehensive consideration of cake type, delivery time, and budget. For example, for long-distance delivery in hot weather, thickened PET boxes are preferred, while lightweight paper boxes are suitable for local short-distance delivery.
